Not Older, More Vintage - Nicole Doiron - May Mood Board Inspiration

Hello everyone!

Nicole here to share with you my project
inspired by the May Dusty Attic mood board challenge.

Here is this month's classy and elegant mood board:

I was inspired to create a page about myself using some of the same colours and textures as in the images, including lace, white wash and pretty flowers.

I created a title by combining the Dusty Curls ABC Set and the Mini ABC Set Upper as well as the 'vintage' word from the Mini Words #3 pack.

I cut one of the gorgeous Corner Flourish #3 in 2 pieces, treating each piece a different colour of embossing powder to complement the colour palette. I then dabbed some white paint on them.

On my background, I chose to use the Lace Stencil to add a little texture.

I used gold embossing powder on the butterfly from the Flutterbies #1 set.

My favorite part of creating a project aside from playing with chipboard is searching my flower stash to pick the ones that will best fit my colour palette and theme. Needless to say, I have more flowers in my stash than I will ever be able to use in a lifetime!

And the many leafy flourishes from Dusty Attic are just perfect to extend the flower clusters on any layout.

I wanted to create this page to remind me that getting older doesn't have to be a bad thing. I will be turning 45 next month and I'd rather see myself as getting more vintage rather than older.

Now let's take a closer look at the Dusty Attic products that I used:

Wild and Free - Mary Catt

Hello everyone!

It's Mary here today sharing with you my new layout made with some beautiful chipboards, several metal embellishments and lots of flowers.

Here are some close ups...

I used for my background the ''Notes'' paper from the ''Writer's Block'' 7dots Studio collection.

I started by applying clear gesso on my background and then I
highlighted the area behide my composition with white gesso. Then, I
added texture with a stencil and some paper paste.

When dried, I added color with the
''Dark Chocolate Truffle'' and the ''Kissin' Kenickie Coral'' Lindy's

I painted the ''Mystic Flourish'' chipboards with the Finnabair ''Steampunk Copper'' acrylic paint. The chipboard title from the ''Mini Tabs #5'' was treated the same way.

When everything was glued down I added some ''Henna'' mica flakes and ''Bronze'' micro beads. A final touch was made with some white
acrylic ink.

Picture Perfect Moments - Cathy Cafun - May mood board inspiration

Hi everyone,

Cathy here today, sharing my take on this month's Mood Board Challenge at Dusty Attic, which is another stunner!!

"Picture Perfect Moments"

I took inspiration from the colour palette and floral accents and decadent feel of this month's Mood Board.

To start I stencilled my background with Dusty Attic Ledger Stencil and Prima modelling paste.  Once dry I stamped over the stencilled area with a Kaisercraft Texture Stamp.

Loving the fabulous new release Impact Titles... so many new titles, you are bound to find just what you need!!  I have used "Picture Perfect" which I altered by first coating gesso, then a coat of 3D Liquid Pearls in Buttercup and Snow.

The 49 and Market 6x6 Happy Moments come in white which I love! I added a bit of texture to the string frame with some Prima mini art stones, then to make the chipboard a more brilliant white I spritzed with Kaisercraft white mist.

The leaf sprigs were misted white, and the little berries were highlighted with buttercup liquid pearls.  I also used buttercup liquid pearls on the Iron Accents #1.

Adore - Belinda Spencer

Hello Dusty Attic fans!!

Belinda here today to share my take on the gorgeous May mood board. I really loved the sunshine yellow in the inspiration so used that as my main inspiration with touches of pink.

I glued the fabulous Paisley # 3 chipboard piece onto my layout and then swiped some white gesso over the background and the chipboard using a latex make-up sponge. I added some torn corrugated cardboard and then added more white gesso. Once that was dry, I swiped over some Sunshine Dusty in Colour paint.

Next I stacked on the paper layers using some old patterned papers from my stash in co-ordinating colours inspired by the mood board. There was a cute bird print on one of the patterned papers which inspired the theme of the chipboard. I even found an old journalling card in my stash with 'bird' on it.

I used the Mini Moroccan Lamps upside down as birdcages and painted them white with the gesso.

I also painted the foliage and birds white with the gesso  but once they were dry I inked them with Wild Honey Distress Oxide.

I hope you find some time to enter the mood board challenge this month and have some creative time with your Dusty Attic stash.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.

Friendship - Tina Ollett

Hello Dusty friends. I am back with you today to share something that I created some time ago for CHA.
And most recently I taught this for a most beautiful group of ladies in New Zealand.

This is titled

For this project I focused on using the Tattered Garden collection and co-ordinating flowers. I used the reverse of the Tattered Letters patterned paper and dressed this was Ranger Texture Paste through a stencil. I add over this some art stones and ink.

I also added in some Dusty Attic chipboards to help embellish my layout and give it more dimension. These pieces were dressed in Crackle Paste and inked.

And from another view....

Well that is all from me today. I do hope you have like my project and maybe been inspired to do a little something of your own using some fabulously beautiful 49andMarket.
Until next time take care ...
